Michael & Alison – 20 September 2014

IMG_2897It’s official … spring has sprung!

This is clearly evidenced in Michael & Alison’s spring inspired wedding reception held here over the weekend.

IMG_2882 IMG_2865 IMG_2860Using bright, mismatched blooms against the neutral colour palette of the Conservatory is one of the simplest ways to create a beautiful wedding reception.   The decor of the room is such a blank canvas, that any burst of colour creates a very dramatic effect.

Alison hand-made all the little bonbonniere boxes, as well as the place cards and table numbers herself! Once everything was together on the tables, the theme carried through from the invitations to the little quotes on the bottom of the table numbers… her hard work definitely paid off!

photo 2 photo 1The photos just do not do justice to the incredible atmosphere produced by the combination of tea light candles, bright blooms, and the fading day light into evening.  Alison’s grandad actually provided from his garden at home the long steamed wild flowers in the hessian sacks for the bridal table.  It was so sentimental knowing so much love and care had gone into those special flowers!

IMG_2901 IMG_2886You can see why this is such a popular wedding flower trend!

Congrats again Michael & Alison! xx

Surprises in the mail – September 2014

When a packages arrive at the door step, we all get overly excited at what they could contain! This morning was no exception when we opened a package and found this! Easy Weddings Certificate 2014Thanks Easy Weddings!

As it’s the first day of spring (although it sure doesn’t feel like it today!), we’ve decided to reflect back on the various celebrations held here over the last two months!

IMG_2153Watching that classic Melbourne rain pouring down over the glass ceiling is something we absolutely LOVE. It’s cold and grey outside, but the lanterns are illuminated, the heater is full blast, and not to mention we are setting up for another beautiful event!!

IMG_1419Speaking of setting up … here is our Function Manager, Susan hard at work arranging some beautiful bright flowers! I think we need some more jars over here ….IMG_1537 IMG_1536IMG_1538Chris and Lauren took advantage of the natural light spilling in from the ceiling and windows, and held their ceremony and reception in the Conservatory.  It’s amazing how something as simple as a cream chair sash can totally transform the overall look of your ceremony!

IMG_1972IMG_1973Sarah and Jonathan were lucky enough to celebrate their marriage twice! They had a BIG wedding in Sarah’s hometown in Ireland, then flew back to Melbourne to have an ‘after wedding celebration’ with all their friends and family here! The atmosphere of the evening was made all the more beautiful by the amazing harpist that played as the guests arrived!

IMG_2114A few weeks ago the lovely Janet and Aaron held their wedding ceremony at the Old Melbourne Goal, and then over to us to celebrate with a seated wedding reception!IMG_2124The bonbonniere were varities of Australian plants that Janet had hand wrapped all herself! The room looked like a REAL Conservatory with all the plants everywhere!

IMG_2126 IMG_2132 IMG_2138 IMG_2171On Sunday afternoon we had the pleasure of hosting Hoda and Sunny’s engagement party.  The light pastel colour palate of the flowers added a subtle, romantic feel to the room, and we were all treated to amazing energetic Indian/Persian music and dancing throughout the day and into the evening!! Congrats again guys xx
